Nothing happened.  The girls looked at each other.  "Maybe yesterday was a fluke,"  April said.

"Yea...maybe,"  Sandy replied uncertainly.  She looked confused.

"Maybe, she still wanted to believe,"  thought April.

"Girls, it's time to wrap it up.  April, your Mom just called,"  Sandy's Mom yelled up the stairs.

"OK Mom.  Be down in a minute."  Sandy gathered up the scrapbooks and hid them away.  April stuffed her algebra book into her backpack.  Both girls headed back downstairs.

"See you tomorrow,"  April called as she slipped on her jacket.  Sandy's mom already had her coat on and the car keys out.  April was right again about who would be giving her a ride home.  They headed out into the rain.  The storm was starting to pick up, like a true Nor’ Easter.  There was a brief flash of light, followed by a deafening boom of thunder.  April rubbed her eyes hard.  They felt funny and things seemed to look a little different.  “probably just the lightning,”  April thought.
