| "You OK," April asked?
Mandy was still in the fetal position clutching her books closely to her.
Amanda's treasured notebook of scribbled poetry had become dislodged and
was laying on the linoleum floor. She nodded yes through tear wetted
eyes.
"Come on. You're OK,"
April said as she hauled her friend up. April picked up the poetry
notebook and stuffed it into Amanda's hands. She steered Mandy in
the general direction of her next class and took off. April was late
for Mrs. Roper's Social Science Class and she wasn't looking forward to
the teacher's displeasure.
