Confrontation, continued

 
          The nurse looked at April for answers, but all April did was shrug her shoulders. Prima got off the phone.
          “Your Dad’s coming right over,” April’s mom, Prima, said. She ran a hand through April’s hair and gently pushed her daughter into a seated position on the edge of the bed. Then she turned to Sandy. “Dear . . . what are you doing here?”
         “I don’t know,” Sandy answered. She shifted the position of the ice
pack slightly.
          “How did your eye get injured?” the old nurse asked.
          “I don’t know,” Sandy stammered. Lying was hard for her. It wasn’t who she was, but how could she tell them the truth? Sandy had come to grips with the Magikal world around her. If she tried to tell these adults they’d probably think she had a concussion and was hallucinating.
          “You’re mom’s coming over to the hospital,” Prima informed Sandy.
          The older nurse interrupted, “In the mean time, we’re going to get someone to look at that eye.” The nurse turned to Prima and spoke. “I’m having her transferred to a treatment room in the emergency ward. When her mom gets here, that’s where she’ll be.”
          “Thanks.”
          When Sandy’s mom, Karen, arrived, she headed straight up to April’s room first. Entering April’s room, she saw that what Prima had said on the phone was true. April seemed to have made a complete recovery.
          Prima turned from her daughter and saw Karen enter the room. “Oh, Hi Karen.”
          “Hi, Prima. I see April’s conscious.” Karen went over and gave April a hug. “Where’s Sandy?”
          “They took her down to the emergency room,” Prima said.
          “Why? Is she hurt?”
          “She’s got a black eye,” April said. Her face then turned red and she looked down.
          “We all don’t know what happened. Sandy seems disoriented.”
          “When you called I couldn’t believe that Sandy was at the hospital. I had to check her room before I could believe it. April, Do you know
