A heart saved True
Bad Seeds are Near.
“Strange. Definitely a riddle,” said April. “I wonder
what a ‘Seed’ is and why it’s capitalized? Gotta be a grammar error, don’t
you think?”
“I don’t know. Almost everything in the poem we used to save the bird came
true. Maybe this will too,” Sandy replied. She looked at the words again.
“I wonder what they mean by ‘Its truths are few’?”
“Are there any more poems in the book?” April asked.
“Let me see,” Sandy replied. “Hey, there’s one on the next page. Something
called ‘Seventh Sight’.”
“Something cool happened with the poem we used to heal the baby bird. Let’s
try this one,” April said. Sandy was surprised. It was like pulling teeth
to get her to recite the poem on the way home, yesterday. Together they
recited:
SEVENTH SIGHT
Two Friends now Joined
In a Circle of Light
Find new Purpose
Through a Seventh Sight.
Friends for Life
Friends so Dear
Will stop Seeds of Death
And Seeds of Despair.
Nothing happened. The girls looked at each other. “Maybe
yesterday was a fluke,” April said.
“Yea . . . maybe,” Sandy replied uncertainly. She looked confused.
Maybe, she still wants to believe, thought April.
“Girls, it’s time to wrap it up. April, your mom just called,” Sandy’s
mom yelled up the stairs.
“OK Mom. Be down in a minute.” Sandy gathered up the scrap-
